1. Scope and who we are
This Privacy Policy applies to the Android application PDF Scanner : PDF maker (package name com.pdfscanner.pdfmaker), referred to as the “App.” In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” mean the operator of the App.
By using the App, you acknowledge the practices described here. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.
2. Information the App accesses or handles
Documents and user content
When you choose to scan or import content, the App handles camera images, selected images or documents, generated PDF or Word files, and text recognized through optical character recognition (OCR). A document may contain personal, confidential, or sensitive information, so you should only scan or import content you are authorized to use.
Document records and preferences
The App stores information needed to manage your library, such as document titles, page references, timestamps, tags, page filters, recognized text, and flags you apply to a document. It also stores settings such as your selected language and whether onboarding is complete.
Device access and operational information
The App may access the camera, files or media you select, network connectivity status, and device storage functions. Third-party Google components used by the App may process limited device, diagnostic, and operational information as described in Section 6.
No developer account is required. The current App does not offer user registration, and we do not operate a developer server that receives your document library or OCR content.
3. How information is used
The App uses information to provide features you request, including to:
- capture, import, crop, rotate, filter, and organize document pages;
- recognize and save text from selected document images;
- create PDFs and other export files;
- search, display, rename, tag, hide, or delete local document records;
- save page images to your device gallery when you request it;
- print files or share them through an app or recipient you select;
- remember your language and onboarding choices; and
- detect whether a network connection is available for features that rely on Google components or model delivery.
We do not sell your scanned documents or recognized text.
4. Local storage and system backup
The current App is designed to keep the working document library, document metadata, recognized text, and preferences in the App's private storage on your device. Temporary export files may be placed in the App's cache. Images you explicitly save to the gallery are stored in shared device storage and may remain after App data is cleared.
Depending on your Android device, account, and backup settings, Android's backup or device-transfer services may copy eligible App files and document records to your cloud backup or another device. Those services are controlled by your device platform and account provider, not by us. You can manage backup settings through your device or Google account.
5. Permissions and device capabilities
- Camera: used when you choose to photograph or scan a document.
- Photos, media, and storage: used to import selected images or documents and, where supported, save results. Older Android versions may use legacy storage permissions.
- Internet and network state: support connectivity detection and Google-provided scanning or ML components, including component or model delivery. They may also support advertising if AdMob is added in a future release.
- Notifications: the App declares notification capability on supported Android versions. If a feature needs to send notifications, Android may ask for your permission and you can deny or disable it in system settings.
You can deny or revoke optional permissions through Android settings. A related feature may not work without the access it needs.
6. Google services and third parties
The App uses Google Play services and Google ML Kit components for guided document scanning and text recognition. These components are intended to perform document processing on the device, but Google components may connect to Google to deliver or update models and services and may process diagnostic, security, device, or operational information under Google's terms and privacy practices.
For more information, review the Google Privacy Policy and Google ML Kit Terms.
Your Android operating system, device manufacturer, cloud-backup provider, print service, or an app you select for sharing may process information independently under its own privacy policy.
8. Planned future AdMob advertising
AdMob is not integrated into the current code reviewed for this policy. We plan to add Google AdMob advertising in a future App release. This section gives advance notice; we will update this policy and the Google Play Data safety and ads declarations when advertising is introduced.
After AdMob is added, Google and its advertising partners may automatically collect or process information such as advertising identifiers, IP address, device and app information, approximate location inferred from network information, ad interactions, and diagnostic or performance data. This information may be used to deliver, measure, limit, secure, and—where permitted and consented to—personalize advertisements.
Before serving ads, we intend to implement consent and privacy controls required for the user's region, including applicable European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland requirements. Where required, users will be able to choose whether ads may be personalized. Device settings and Google's My Ad Center may provide additional advertising controls.
AdMob's handling of information is governed by Google's policies. See How Google uses information for advertising and Google's Privacy Policy.
9. Retention, deletion, and security
Retention and deletion
Local document records and files remain on your device until you delete them in the App, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App, subject to Android backup behavior. Files you exported, shared, printed, or saved outside private App storage must be deleted from their destination separately. Backup providers and third-party recipients may retain copies according to their own policies and backup cycles.
Because the current App has no user accounts and we do not host your document library, there is no server-side App account to delete. You can remove locally stored App data through Android system settings.
Security
We use the protections provided by Android app-private storage and limit access to the functions needed by the App. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Protect your device with an appropriate screen lock and use care when sharing sensitive documents.
10. Your choices and rights
You control which documents you scan or import, which permissions you grant, and when you export or share a file. You may use Android settings to review or revoke permissions, clear local App data, manage backups, and uninstall the App.
Depending on where you live, privacy law may give you rights concerning personal information, such as rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object, or withdraw consent. Because we do not currently maintain user accounts or receive the local document library, many of these controls are exercised directly on your device. You may contact us with a privacy request or question.
11. Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction, and we do not knowingly collect children's personal information through a developer-operated server. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
If the App's target audience or advertising practices change, we will apply the relevant Google Play Families and child-protection requirements before that change is released.
12. International processing
Third-party platform, backup, ML, sharing, and future advertising providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their privacy policies describe the safeguards they use for international transfers. Local files that remain solely in App-private storage stay on your device unless a backup, transfer, export, sharing, or other user-initiated function moves them.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, legal requirements, or third-party services change. We will post the revised policy on this page, update the date above, and provide any additional notice or consent required by law. We intend to update the policy before enabling AdMob advertising.
